Gabrielle Giles' Showcase
Welcome to my showcase! Here you will find projects and assignments that I have completed during my time enrolled in Michigan State University’s Master of Arts in Education program. My primary focus in this program was Literacy. You will find the literary focus artifacts within the first section on this page. The other projects are grouped into assignments I've found to be most beneficial working in a collaborative school with diverse students.
Within my showcase below you may scroll and browse previous work and projects I’ve done inside and outside of the classroom that have helped guide me to become the teacher I am today. The categories consist of case studies, literacy in the classroom, philosophies, and concepts of educational inquiry. Enjoy!
Literacy
|
Within this category there are 5 links you may download to view my views and beliefs on the importance of Literacy. The first three links are reflections and discussions upon children's book studies I've viewed in previous classes. These stories open up wonderful discussion based lessons and aid the students to make text to self, text to text, text to world connections at an early age in their reading career. The last two links discuss the importance of diverse literacy within the classroom, and how I implement that on a daily basis.

Educational Inquiry Project
|
This particular link will show you my knowledge and research I've found to be the most important when creating units, lessons, and project based assessments for students. I use this document and revisit it often to use as a resource and ensure that my lessons are teaching the whole child.

Case Studies
|
Here you will be able to see different tools and strategies I've used to accommodate for different students and their needs within my classroom. These particular case studies show how I handle challenging behaviors and how I accommodated for a student with a Reading Disability.

School Vision
|
This last link is a vision and goal that I've created for my current school. I analyzed our strengths and areas of growth as a K-8 building and created a plan with strategies to get there. Although I am not in a leadership role, I believe it is important for the school staff and faculty members to all understand the united vision and goal and use the different strategies and means to achieve it.
